Clans Update

Alright, here's the update on what is done, what needs to be done, and what I'm thinking about...

What's Done?

  • Clan creation
  • Clan domains (yourclan.spawnpoint.com)
  • Roster page
  • Clan management panel setup
  • Manage ranks
  • Manage rosters
  • Invite
  • Join clan/Accept invite

What's next?

  • Validate permissions when promoting/demoting -- Going to be weird with the draggable list items and the rank drop boxes.
  • General page permissions for the clan panel
  • Edit clan info
  • Edit about page
  • News display
  • About page display

What's still on my mind?

Matches. Matches. Matches. I'm trying to make the system flexible enough to allow any type of match to be reported. However I also want to make it generic enough so it can be extended for the league code. Going to be interesting; I still haven't thought of the best way, but time will tell.

Another important issue will be file uploads. I'd like to have them be able to be tagged to a match, with different types (demos, screenshots, etc.). That one requires less thought than the matches one.

Things are moving at a nice pace though -- A little slower than I wanted but reasonable.

Is SpawnPoint going to be developing its own league config, or will we be using one that's already been made (for example, lo3)?

To be determined Greenblaster... but I do assume that SpawnPoint will maintain some type of control on what kind of configs are used within matches.

Each ladder for each gametype should have it's own independent rule set where rules of engagement are outlined. These rules would include those mods needed for that gametype. The good thing here is that Spawnpoint can tailor its ladders to fit the specific desires of the players. And not just for CSS, but for a wide range of popular and new games. This is why it's important right now for anyone interested in getting in on the ground floor of what promises to be a varsity level league to jump in here and post their feedback. Your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated and will help the development team to isolate new ideas and concepts.

Will you be including referees as part of the ladder system so that disputes can be easily dealt with to the best of all parties? And I think Atrus covered the other stuff I was thinking of.

Providing refs when needed will likely be done. Something like that is determined by the level of community involvement, I suspect we have more than enough gamers out there to fill staff needs. What would be good now is some feedback from everyone on the setup of a Spawnpoint League!
